SCH68SUB

Subsea Encoder for Deep Water Operations --- 6000 meters / 600 bar

SCANCON Encoders introduces its newly tested SCH68SUB model, an encoder designed specifically for subsea operations. In recent years, Exploration and Production companies have focused on designing and installing subsea facilities. One of the many difficulties they encountered was the inability of encoders to work in the subsea environment unless housed in a pressurized container. Scancon recognized the need for an encoder that could operate in this harsh ocean environment and developed the SCH68SUB, the industry’s first heavy-duty encoder for use in subsea operations.

 

The SCH68SUB is designed and has been tested for offshore applications that require operation at water depths now down to 6000 meters (~ 20,000 feet) (actually down to 6500m). Unique among its competitors, the SCH68SUB does not require a pressurized container. The SCH68SUB is a magnetic incremental encoder offering an ø 20 mm or ø 1 inch hollow bore, resolution of 2048 ppr, and an environmental rating of IP68/IP69K. The SCH68SUB is ideal for use in subsea robotics, ROVs, and other seafloor applications that require motion control or position feedback.

Wind Power's First Rugged and Reliable Fiber Optic Encoder

Scancon introduces its SCH94FO encoder, the industry's first rugged and reliable Fiber Optic encoder. TheSCH94FO was specifically designed for use with Wind Turbine generators and offers either dual Digital/Fiber Optic output or a single Fiber Optic output. 

The SCH94FO encoder provides a safe method for signal transmission from the nacelle to the tower base. Utilizing both Fiber Optic cable and a built-in Transient Suppression Module (TSM), the encoder protects against signal disruption by electrical disturbances often encountered during wind turbine operation. 

The encoder offers either Red Light or Infrared Light transmission. Although the Red Light option has a lower transmission distance (250 meters), it allows the customer to actually see if the fiber is transmitting when power is applied. The Infrared Light option allows for a much longer transmission distance (~ 2,000 meters).
